Bonnie Griffith

Bonnie Griffith is a long time Michigander and church musician, beginning her organ career at the age of 16. Growing up in the shadow of Michigan State University led her to beginning and completing her academic years there. Her undergraduate work was in the field of Speech/Language Pathology with a minor in Organ Performance, and graduate degrees in Education of the Multiply Impaired. Her career in Special Education allowed her extensive time with Michigan Special Olympics to improve the skill and socialization levels of her students.

Bonnie’s love of sacred music was continued at M.S.U., serving as assistant organist at University Methodist Church until graduation and then assuming organist roles in United Methodist churches in Corunna and Linden, Michigan. The opportunity to join a large music program at a PCUSA church in Fenton, Michigan resulted in a 30 year position, performing many major works with orchestras and singers from a very artistic community. Her major instruments are organ and piano, but upon relocating to Florida to join her family, Bonnie added hand bells to her music profile. Large group as well as quartet ringing broadened her awareness and love of music within the church setting. Her membership in the American Guild of Organists has been ongoing for many years and she has been active on several AGO boards. Her tenure on the organ bench has been long and colorful, but the sharing of God’s word through music is immeasurable.
